Kevin Cox, MS, MS Ed., LBS1, CTRS®

Business Manager, New Legends Counseling, Coaching and Consulting, LLC

In addition to his role as Business Manager at New Legends, Kevin is a middle school Special Education teacher in a west suburban school district where he works with 8th grade students. Also holding a Master of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Kevin incorporates this background into programming, serving as a Cross Country, Track, and Running Club coach/mentor for both regular and special education students. Kevin’s passion for resiliency and confidence building in adolescents has led him to pursue his Doctorate in Educational Psychology at Northern Illinois University where he is focusing on student motivation and the ways in which our educational system can either help, or hinder, students’ desire to succeed based on their perceived sense of belonging at school.

Prior to working in public education, Kevin worked at a therapeutic day school with students experiencing emotional disabilities. In this role, in addition to teaching at the high school level, Kevin facilitated both an outdoor experiential education program and an animal-assisted therapy program for his students addressing concerns related to depression, anxiety, communication, anger management, and autism. Kevin uses a casual, pragmatic, solution-focused approach to encourage students to explore their inner strengths and use them as catalysts to drive their lives in positive directions. Twenty-two years into his second career (in education), Kevin spent his first fifteen years working in the field of business as a project manager and consultant for a major information technology company.
