Parenting in today’s world is difficult. How permissive should we be? How do we handle our kids’ preoccupations with technology? Where do we draw the line? How much is too much? What do we do when our children won’t listen to reason or worse, ignore us completely? How do we deal with behavior that we can’t control, (i.e. – all of it)? How can we encourage our children’s growth?

About Parent Coaching
Parents often contact us looking for help in handling problems their children are having at home, school, or in the community. Robin uses her background in behavior analysis to, through meetings with parents, determine what if any, communication or other difficulties may be occurring in the family system which inadvertently contribute to the challenging behavior. Coaching sessions are used to break down the behavior’s sequence to determine what leads up to it (the antecedent) and what keeps it occurring (the consequence) so that strategies can be implemented by parents to make the behavior ineffective (i.e. –it no longer achieving the result being sought). Many times, it takes only slight changes in parenting behavior to bring about significant shifts in a child’s behavior.
