Kevin Cox is a Licensed Special Education Teacher with specializations as a Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS®).

Kevin has worked with adolescents in both private and public school settings for a total of seventeen years helping students develop the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic skills needed to claim their lives. Kevin continues to work as a special educator with students in a public school.

As a CTRS, Kevin has an extensive background in facilitating outdoor and classroom experiential learning activities designed to address specific goal areas.  Difficulties such as anger management, emotional control, anxiety, effective communication, leadership, and increasing self-efficacy can often be best addressed through hands-on, experiential, cooperative activities with peers. Kevin’s pragmatic, solution-focused approach encourages students to find their own inner strengths and use them as catalysts for their continued growth.

Kevin is currently working on his PhD in educational psychology at Northern Illinois University with a focus on student motivation. Kevin received his Master’s Degree in Special Education from Northern Illinois University and his Master’s Degree in Outdoor Therapeutic Recreation from Aurora University.
